Lead Paint Management

Lead Paint Management

What about lead in paint?

  • Houses painted before 1971 may have paint that contains high levels of lead.
  • Lead can be dangerous for men, women and children, but especially pregnant women and young children
  • If you are renovating or repainting an old home with flaking paint, it is important to treat the lead paint properly
  • Modern household paints contain less than .1% lead.
  • Lead in paint is only a danger once it is disturbed. Consider repainting the substrate without disturbing the original surface.
  • If the painted surfaces need major sanding and preparation, it is often cheaper to simply replace them.
